The Sustain Theatre grew from a long-standing relationship with land, materials, and making.

Our journey began in the woodlands of South Wales, where we trained in forestry and conservation under the guidance of Dick Godefroy MBE. His commitment to native woodland restoration and thoughtful land management shaped our early understanding of sustainability — not as a slogan, but as a practical, long-term responsibility.

That grounding led us through ecology projects, environmental education, and work across the cultural and maritime sectors. Over time, it became clear that lasting change does not come from rhetoric, but from shared knowledge, skilled practice, and cultural expression.

Theatre brings these elements together. It is a space where ideas can be explored with care, humour, and honesty — without division. At The Sustain Theatre, in our workshop, we create performances, sets, props, and events that are responsibly made, rooted in craft, and attentive to their wider impact.

Sustainability, for us, is inseparable from resilience: environmental, human, and cultural. We work with proven methods, durable materials, and thoughtful design to support work that is both imaginative and enduring.

Our aim is simple: to bring people together through shared experience. To tell stories that reflect complexity without alienation, and to celebrate the common ground that theatre has always offered.
